What I do
Think of me as a guide to help you thrive in your understanding of yourself and your relationships.
I provide psychotherapy for individuals and couples who are curious and care deeply, but are not sure how to find more of what they yearn for in life. My approach focuses on identifying the root source of what is creating pain in your life – not just masking symptoms. I will help you identify and magnify your strengths, while discovering how you want to change and grow. We will work together, at your own pace, to create more of what you want in your life, and to let go of old patterns that are holding you back.
I develop a trusting, collaborative, judgment-free therapy environment to allow my clients to explore difficult, and even painful topics. My clients appreciate the way that I ask for feedback and take care in creating a safe therapeutic setting where they can express experiences, memories, and thoughts they may never have shared before.
What I believe about my clients
You are enough:
I believe that you are good enough and loveable enough just as you are – our therapy work will help you uncover and magnifying your strengths until you can see them as clearly as I can. In our sessions, you can expect to be deeply listened to and supported while you explore ways to have deeper understanding and compassion for yourself.
Your pain does not define your story:
I believe that you are capable of achieving your dreams, despite what that old, gnawing voice in your heart may tell you at times. Our painful experiences impact us, but they do not need to define us. I know from my years of working with clients with PTSD that we are capable of healing such that trauma may be part of our story, but not the central plotline. If trauma is part of your experience, I have advanced training in trauma-focused therapy techniques, including EMDR.
You can build healthy relationships:
I believe you deserve respect, contentment, and joy in your relationships. Our therapy work can help you develop the skills to be effective in your relationships so that you can give and receive the caring you long for. For couples looking to improve their relationship together or work through conflict, I offer Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.
You can find fulfillment:
I believe that people who develop good self-awareness of their experiences are the most fulfilled in life. My own life path has taken some twists and turns – I started out as a biology researcher, but through learning about myself, I discovered that combining my understanding of science with my compassion for others as a therapist was the right path for me. I love helping my clients discover where their most-fulfilling life path may lead.
You can have fun:
Finally, I believe therapy does not always need to be super-duper serious. We can also laugh and have fun in our sessions! It’s important to have someone to celebrate our successes and resonate with our joys. As we progress in our work together, I anticipate that we will begin to share more and more joyful moments as we celebrate your progress.
